Help needed

As the holidays approach I find myself thinking about what to make for friends and family. As most of my friends are gamers, I decided to make a few themed gifts. Two similar ideas are the First Aid Kits from Bioshock, and Mentats from Fallout 3. The advantage is that while they're different products their packaging prep would be similar. However the problem lies in the design on the top of the metal case. I want to get the look to be as close as I can get to the game design, but...

1) I can't paint
2) I don't want to use anything that looks cheap or thrown on

I thought about using a few stencils, or 'rub-on' lettering. I even considered printing something out and gluing it on, but I felt that most of these options would violate #2. I also need the Mentat box to handle antiquing (it went through a nuclear war after all).

I found a supplier where I can get tin boxes exactly the same size as Altoids boxes. I wish I could find bigger ones, but haven't been lucky yet. Anyway, the tops will be removed, and everything will be spray painted glossy white. The First Aid Kits will be all white, while the Mentats will have a yellow top. I do intent to put a real FAK or a sealed pack of candy in the tin, so the cleaner the inside the better. However that is NOT a priority. It's the outside that counts.

I'm open to any and all suggestions.
