Well first off I guess I'll introduce myself. I'm a SAHM who's married to the military and moves wherever the Army sends us. I'm expecting my second child and I got bit by the crocheting bug so I raced to the BX before it closed so I could buy some yarn from their amazingly limited supply (I'm talking like maybe 10 different colors if you're lucky!) I had also found a video tutorial on how to make a granny square since I'd been wanting to know how for a long time and apparently written instructions like 3dc, 2sc, 16 stcs, etc doesn't do much for me when it comes to making a finished product.
So yeah, after that initial craze to buy yarn I immediately started working on granny squares for my son's blanket and I come today with pictures of the finished product, along with a link to the video I used.

The finished product. It's 4 rows and 4 columns of each color stitched together in a zig zag pattern so it doesn't have the traditional straight edge like a square or rectangle. I felt like being different.

A close up of the border.
