Sewing kit
Nov. 17th, 2010 07:53 pmI made this for my sister's birthday... she's moved house a grand total of 5 times in as many years, I think, and though she had a sewing kit once, no doubt made for her by our mother, she's lost it over the years. Recently I was at her place and her cat had chewed through her bra strap (I know, wtf?) so I said I'd sew it back, if she could tell me where her sewing kit was. And she said, "Uh........"
So for her birthday (which was a month ago WOW it's taken me ages to post this xD) I made her a sewing kit.
Just a plain wood box, painted with acrylic. I like how the 'stripey' look came out, it's sort of gradient, or like a sunset how the shades vary and change in wave patterns...

I don't know why I chose purple. I'm on a purple trip lately...
(...lol that sounds bad XD )
I used silver sparkly glue for the writing. It says "sewing stuff" in Hebrew.

I got her no less than 12 spools of thread (the basics - white, black, red, navy, brown - plus some more special shades - light blue, pink, dark red, greens, tan, grey, etc...) 9 needles, several safety pins, and a pair of little scissors.
I can only hope she doesn't loose this kit the next time she moves house. Or that her cat or dogs don't swallow a needle. (Our older sister's cat did this once. Yikes.)
