Patchwork projects

I've really been enjoying English paper piecing recently. Here are a couple of things I've made, with links to the tutorials I used:

This is a flower pincushion I made using this tutorial. It isn't terribly clear in parts so I, like many commenters, made it wrong the first time and ended up with a ball instead of a flower! Second time around it went right though. This is a gift for a friend who loves sewing.

This was a super simple, very quick project, using this tutorial. The hardest part was drawing the pentagon for the paper pieces! I don't have a working printer so I found myself crouched over the table with a pair of compasses and a ruler, following a tutorial on a maths website! Brought back horrible memories of maths at school, which was decidedly not my strong point...I'm pleased with how it turned out. I used some of my favourite nautical fabrics, it's for a friend's baby's first Christmas. My husband wants it for himself!
