I'm hoping someone here can help me. OK, you know how when you're making something and you have something specific in mind and you have to mutilate other things to make them work? This is about that. I made a thing for a swap, and it involved buying and cutting the handle off of this wok skimmer:

Which left me with the little mesh bowl thing, which fit my needs absolutely perfectly, but here's the thing: I'd like to make more, but it was such a pain in the butt trying to saw off the little steel bars on the handle, that I just...really don't want to again. Also, it was slow going. So does anyone know of an alternative? Do they make skimmer baskets like this without the handle? Could I make one? Can I get a steel handle off an easier way? Does anyone know where I can get a saw that cuts through steel reliably and on the cheap (This is pretty much the only use I would have for power tools)? Do they make wok skimmers in, like, aluminum?

Project requirements:
1) It needs to be something I can sew fabric onto.
2) It needs to be round/domed, no corners.
3) It needs to be about 5" in diameter.
4) It needs to be able to hold its shape.
