One costume, for an anime convention, and one dress, for my company's holiday party.

First, the costume. I made this for Nekocon last month.

and

The character is named Jessica, from Lunar: Silver Star Story. Amusingly, that's also my name, so when people would call out the character's name at the convention, I would have a moment of "How does that person know my name...? Ooooh, right, my character" no matter how many times it happened.

I also made the trim on the coat - I couldn't find a dark blue trim in the stores that I liked, so I found this fuzzy yarn, and one of those little circular knitting things, and I whipped that up. While I could have done it on needles, I saw no reason to when I could do it so much quicker and easier on the little machine thingie. I'll probably never use it again, but hey, if I need it, I have it!

And, the holiday party dress:

Unlike the costume above, which was freehanded I used a pattern for most of this, except for the sleeves. I did have to modify it - the pattern came in tall and thin, not short and stumpy, but s'all good. The sleeves were freehanded, and instead of attaching the skirt to the waistband then waistband to the top, I attached the skirt to the top and sewed the waistband ontop of it otherwise it would have been too long for my torso. It was also meant to be a full coverage top, but I gave up on that and wore a tank top that I found in my closet under it.

Now to get cracking on the 5 bags I still need to put together as gifts...
