double knitting

i'm tackling the continental method and learning double knitting in one.  i think i should get a sticker for this?



so i've decided to make a pretty epic LONGCAT scarf as my first DK project. 
pattern is by Enza Bird

has anyone else done DK before?  it was kind of tricky but instead of working the first stitch like straight knitting i've been slipping it [as enza suggests] and it like the framing effect it gives on the one side.
