Tiny cranes...
Jan. 27th, 2011 09:53 pmAwhile back I posted that I had made a tiny crane: here.
bearscanfly said that what I'd really done was craft a giant pencil! So, to redeem myself, here is a tiny crane on a Smartie:

How could I fake the size of the Smartie? Proof, right! Tiny, tiny, tiny crane! Or is it...
...giant candy?

;)
And so this isn't just a rehash of old business, I was recently involved in a Craftster swap where we watched our partner's five favorite movies, and crafted three tiny things inspired by them.
Her movies were To Kill a Mockingbird, Vovler (Spanish), Persepolis (French), Rear Window, and Love Actually.

Plastic Canvas Needlebook inspired by Rear Window (each charm represents a person he watched across the way). I didn't actually send this, it took more time than I thought, but I"m proud of it!

Hamgirl Amigurumi from To Kill a Mockingbird. I just winged the pattern. I was worried I'd put the 'HAM' on the wrong side (you can tell she's not symmetrical in the movie, and I tried to duplicate that!) but I think I got it right. I also thought about doing a felt oval and putting little eyes on it, but... didn't.

Little swan stuffies from Persepolis. I'm not sure I'm happy with the crocheted hanging string. I did another one later but I didn't have any thin white ribbon, so I used some thicker silver and definitely didn't like that. I think thin white ribbon would be the way to go. If I'm ever of a mind to make more (they would make cute Christmas ornaments).

Matchbook Notepads from Volver. These were the cheesiest (? maybe the swans, I don't know), it's simply screen shots of the end credits to the movie (very pretty floral motifs!), laminated and with part of a Post-It notepad stapled inside.
