Baking a Human Heart
Feb. 7th, 2011 06:34 pm
I needed a brooch in the shape of a human heart for a photography project I'm doing this week, and decided to make it out of fimo. I used to make loads of fimo stuff when I was a kid, and taught some classes to kids a while back, but I haven't made anything in about 5 years. It was a mix of fun and frustrating, but came out as raw meaty looking as hoped.

Reference material. Nice surgical looking instruments and white workmat.

I'd forgotten how tough original-style fimo is to knead. The white is glow in the dark. If it can glow in the dark / UV light it should. That's my motto in life.

Starting to marble colours.

Fresh meat. (soy vegetariana)

Base.

Adding veins before baking. After baking it looked exactly the same, so I didn't bother to take any pictures. I've got some sparkly glisteny mod-podge somewhere, I'll varnish it with that.
