Renn Faire outfit
Mar. 7th, 2011 08:32 amSince the local renn faire started up a couple weeks ago, and the eyelets on my previous bodice were falling out from wear, I decided to put something new together to wear yesterday.
I couldn't get the exact colors I wanted, because I realized that I was able to go to the faire about a week prior, so I just had to make do with what I found. The belt was inspired by one I saw in a shop at the faire last year. It's not very similar - the one I saw had smaller stripes, was narrower and shaped a bit differently - but I made it the night before the faire, so I think I can live with it, haha. It IS a bit too big around and tall, so I'm going to rehape it, but that's a simple matter. I made this in about 2 days, all hand gathered, I didn't cheat and use pleats this time like I usually do, and only had to rip apart the blue skirt twice when I put the layers on backwards, haha.
So, the front:

The sleeve can be worn on or off the shoulders, and I quite like the upper skirt tucked in rather than hanging down.
And the back:

I'm not sure what the thread on the back on the skirt is from, probably just something clinging on. And apologies for the wrinkles, my iron is still packed away somewhere, and I'd just pulled the outfit out of my backpack after camping at the faire.
