What to do with a bunch of glass bottles?

This is one of those "Help, I need ideas!" posts. Since you guys were so creative in helping me figure out what to do with all of my postcards (I don't know how to link back to that post, but you gave me some great ideas that I'm working on), I figured this would be the right place to come with my most recent crafting question. :)
A friend of mine has a BUNCH (dozens, even) of empty Patron bottles (most still with the cork) of various sizes, and he is looking for ideas on what to do with them. We've come up with a few ideas we're playing around with, but I thought I would reach out to the community to see what other ideas are out there. Here's what the bottle looks like:
Most of the bottles are either 750ml or 1.75l sized. We'll be pulling the labels off of them. He's very handy with crafty stuff, so decorating them is in the plan, and he's able to use all different kinds of media (if that's the right word?). We've thought of making flower vases out of some, maybe candle holders, maybe hanging lanterns, maybe terrariums...like I said, we have a few ideas. But we're looking for more, because we both know there are things we haven't come up with! So, please, hit me up with your ideas?
Also, another question, for those who have worked with blowing glass or doing lampwork beading, etc: would it be possible to add glass decorations to them? Like, using glass rods to add embellishments? We weren't sure if new glass would stick to the outside of the bottles or not. (Sorry, that might not make sense, I'm having trouble putting what I mean into words on this idea.)
