I made a very girly ruffled lamp today.

To make this lamp, measure the length of shade and divide that number by the amount of ruffles you want and add one inch to that number. My shade was 9 inches, I cut three ruffles, so mine were 4 inches wide.

Cut strips of your fabric two to three times the circumference of the shade depending how much gathering you like.

Sew down the center of the strips using the largest stitch on your sewing machine or by hand if you don't have one.

Gather up the strips by pulling gently on the thread, making your gathers even and tie off the ends of your thread.

Using a glue gun and starting in the middle of the length of your shade, place a small bead of glue every 4 inches or so and hold the ruffle down till it dries. I didn't use a lot of glue to do this so that I can switch fabrics easily if I want a change. Yes, my glue gun is grody.

Apply your other ruffles in the same way.
