Furniture refinishing.
May. 7th, 2011 04:07 pmI put four of these chairs out in a yard sale last year and nobody wanted them.

I was going to try to sell them again this year and then I realized that I really do like Windsor back chairs, just not when they're honey maple.
So.

Let me tell you how tedious is it to paint spindles. Very. But it's so worth it. Instead of sanding or stripping these chairs, I painted a coat of Zissner primer and then three coats of Behr Peppercorn latex paint.

I have been very into transferring photocopied images onto fabric these days using Citra Solv and that's how I did this seat cushion. I drew out a pattern to fit the seat and sewed the cushion cover out of sturdy unbleached pure cotton. I used an old comforter that I nearly threw away to make the cushion form.
Vintage French advertising graphics make me all kinds of happy, you can find them at The Graphics Fairy.
