Sofa surgery
Jun. 11th, 2011 05:17 pmSo you may remember my leather sofa from past posts, where I dyed it in the attempt to give it a new lease on life.
Well it did, to a point.
Of course the dye eventually wore off where it got worn, but more importantly the soft leather started to get wear holes in one of the seat cushions.
I attempted to sew these closed, and then, thinking it would look nifty, put on a leather patch.
I hated that patch with a passion.
So, not having the cash to buy a new sofa, and too paranoid about bedbugs to buy a used one, I did the only thing I could.
I made new seat cushion covers.
Sofa before:

I scored some microfiber/ ultrasuede interior decor fabric at my favorite fabric store in the colors that the rest of my sofa is, and it being suede, it goes with the leather better than any fabric would.
Here's a closeup of the fabric:

So after an afternoon of work (I salvaged the existing cover's zippers so it needed to be done in one shot) voila:

Just what I wanted, new seat covers.
