craftgrrl | Fun kids projects for victims of trauma

Hey ladies --

I am currently going to school to get my degree in Art Therapy Counseling. In the meantime I volunteer at a domestic violence and sexual assault emergency crisis shelter. We keep 10 resident adult women and their children, so at any given time we usually have 5-17 kids of all ages. I was recently granted permission to run my own 1-hr art/science/craft/fun night every week. We have some art supplies (mostly the basics), but mainly I'll be buying the bulk of what I need with my own money or by begging friends and family for donations so cost is a factor.
So now, for the reason for this post:
I NEED TUTORIALS FOR FUN, EASY KIDS PROJECTS! ALL AGES!
I feel like everything I'm learning for the Art portion of my degree is not really transferable to glue sticks, and while I'm good at crafts I've never led a group instructing on how to do them, let alone kids of all ages.

I live in Pac NW, so projects using nerdy things, comics, recycled goods, or teaching about the Earth, animals, or all that other hippie stuff we love up here will get priority. Also NOTHING involving toy weapons, guns, or any violence of any kind (shelter policy). I'm also okay with us spending time each week working a little bit on one big project that we complete little-by-little, but it would have to be awesome and get them psyched to not see a result quickly.

P.S. I hope this is okay, but if anyone has extra gently used/good condition art supplies (ANYTHING crafty) and want to donate them to the shelter for the kids art group, I can provide you with an official non profit donation reciept thingy (which will also include the cost of shipping) for taxes, just get in touch.
