Sewing Machines

I wanted to ask for advice on sewing machines: What do I have to look for, are there specialties/pecularities in different machines?

What model would you recommend? Which model are you using? What's your dream-sewing machine?

I'm pretty helpless since I only ever used my mom's 20 year old (but still very functional!) monster, and that one didn't have any fancy equipment :)

Any help would be greatly appreciated, and I thank you so much in advance :)

So, after much thinking, some research (and shopkeeper annoying), and asking for my mum's opinion, we've narrowed it down to the Singer Talent 3323 and the Husqvana Viking Emerald 116. I'm not sure which one to buy, so I'll sleep a night over it, and I'd appreciate your opinions?

And thank you so much for your help so far, I would never have been able to narrow it down to these two this fast without reading about your experiences and opinions! This comm is the best! ♥
