Charming clockworks!
Nov. 23rd, 2011 12:22 amOrdinary clocks can be turned into quite extraordinary things! We take clocks for granted--the digital clock has largely reduced the need for the ordinary timepiece. Because of this, many of us forget exactly how charmingly simple a two-handed timepiece can be. Behold, three pieces that emphasize the decorative beauty of a simple clock.

A piece for lasses who can appreciate not only the time of antiqued bronze and fancy Victorian grandfather clocks, but the also the decorative qualities of the inner workings of the clockwork itself.

A look for those of us who hope our future will not take the beauty of the two-handed clock for granted.

And something for those of us who like something a little bit out of the ordinary. Observers with an eye for art might understand the tribute to the most famous work of Salvador Dali going on in this piece. Unlike in the other two pieces, this has a real working clock with a battery and a setting. (But I have to take the battery out to prevent leakage.)
Let's not let the timepiece be outshined by its digital cousin.
