My 16-month-old niece likes 'helping' my sister in the kitchen so I made them matching aprons and a little chef hat for Eva, my niece.

Usually I'm the type to do a million test-runs and hem and haw about things until the last minute but I was in super-get-it-done mode and finished all the stamping, start to finish, in one evening. My back was killing me, but I think it turned out pretty cute!

I didn't use a pattern for the aprons since the shape is so simple and I'm glad they worked out. Working with all that bias tape was so much fun! I've had a bias tape maker for a while but I've never needed so much bias tape for one project before. I used a tutorial from an old quilting magazine that a friend of mine gave me for how to get one long strip of bias-cut material.

It allowed me to finish the adjustable chef hat very neatly, too.

Too bad my sewing machine is kinda crappy. It had a heck of a time sewing through the velcro on the inside of the hat band. I used an ehow tutorial when making the hat that I can no longer find. It's pretty self-explanatory. Tutorial didn't even have pictures.
