So I moved in recently to an older apartment with lots of peeling paint, etc... The chipped paint is worst in the bathroom, which is rather dismal and dreary looking, despite lots of cleaning to get the grime off. I don't feel like painting -- I'm not even sure my landlord allows it -- so a quick solution was to cover some of the woodwork with cotton fabric that was soaked in liquid fabric starch. It's easy to put up and easy to remove/redo. I used this technique to cover up some areas on my bathroom cabinet. The wood is still pretty yucky, but the fabric treatment certainly perks it up. There are some panels below that don't show on the picture where I also placed the same fabric. Anyway, it will do for now and it was fun.
