Kindle Cover.
Jan. 13th, 2012 10:34 pmHello all, I've not posted here before but I read and look and 'ooooo isn't that pretty' a lot. I've got some photos of my latest project. It's certainly by no means perfect. I'm not a very patient and precise lady and I basically made this up as I went along. I looked at a few different kindle cases online and then decided to wing it! I have loads of material and the snoopy material has been hanging around for a year or more waiting for a use and I thought it was pretty perfect for this!

This is the front and there's more behind the cut...
So, here's the back:

Which could definitely have been lined up better but I wasn't even planning to edge it until I completed the main body and it looked a bit wiggly and so I thought a bit of bias binding around the edges would neaten things up a bit.
I picked the two snoopy images from lots of different ones on the marerial I've got because I'm an author so Snoopy on the typewriter appealed to me and the whole 'goodbye' thing on the back of the cover just seemed appropriate.
Inside I went for a different colour:

And I appliquéd Snoopy on there because, well, it's cute and I wanted too! I also will confess that I didn't use the bias-binding to form the pocket the kindle sits in at first, I used the same blue material I used for the...what do you call it? the bit that fastens it shut anyway. *LOL* But because I'm not precise it turned out to be a bit wonky and the kindle didn't sit straight in it so I ripped it out and did the bias-binding bit by hand after I'd finished everything else.

I had so much fun making this. I don't often sew things for myself (I must put some pics up of the various things I made people for Christmas presents) and it was lovely to do something indulgent and just for *me*. It's not perfect, no one would buy it but it's mine, I made it and it keeps my Kindle all snuggly and safe and that's what really counts I think!
