Necklaces from Belt
May. 30th, 2003 08:11 amI'm not very crafty. I want to be, but generally I'm very lazy and untalented and have no ideas that I can actually execute. However, reading
craftgrrl is inspirational!
I have wanted a big, chunky stone necklace for a while, like the ones that Trinny on What Not to Wear wears (Trinny would probably scold me for this, since I am not at all flat chested and shouldn't be wearing these, but I promise to wear it with scoop neck tops!). I found this belt at Target for $3.47 and saw possibilities:

I pulled the whole thing apart (I saved the wooden beads and fake leather, any ideas on what I should do with that?) and disconnected the white strand of beads. I liberated a clasp from a bad bracelet project and created the choker I've always wanted:

I couldn't figure out what to do with the remaining string of beads, so I started poking around in my jewelry, and found these pair of earrings I'd always loved but never warn. Viola! A interchangable necklace was born!

Now I have to figure out what outfit I'm wearing this fantastic jewelry with!
