Cross stitch quandry

I used to be into cross stitch when I was growing up, and just picked up some aida again and I am ADDICTED. Cannot stop stitching. I thought I'd share a card I made for a friend, and ask a question.

My husband is a video game nerd and would love a cross stitch of one of the characters from a game he loves (Scion from Wonder Boy in Monster World, in case you're wondering!). Video game sprites are super fun to stitch but I don't know what to do with it, if you know what I mean. Just framing it seems dull - I'd like to make something he'd use or be able to do something with, rather than it just sitting there. The chart is too wide for a bookmark, which is a shame because he loves reading.

Any ideas grrls?
