craftgrrl | i thought id introduce myself while ive got nothing else to do

hi. im michelle. im 18. i just graduated highschool, where i spent most of my time in art classes or tech-ed type courses. usually engine related. my art teacher considers most of my stuff more ...crafty. even though i tend to think crafts involve fake flowers and angels. i like to think of the stuff i do as art. i do art stuff, i paint, but i use cow bones as a canvas, which she doesnt approve of. so..a few of the things i do.

i paint on cow bones, that i get one way or another, i wont gross you out with stories. if you want to hear stories... email me. but theyre gross. believe me. i use acrylics and seal them with clear spray.
i paint on chairs, my dresser, book shelves, things like that. using acrylics again. acrylics are my choice for almost everything.
i build animal things. i turned a wooden chair into a giant stuffed elephant chair, which had to be torn apart due to cat hair. i made a little rubbermade foot stool into a cow. also gone, it was too old and the leg broke off.
im not very..aware of alot of crafting terms. i tend to use the word "thingy" to describe just about every...thingy. but i do know whats going on. im very good at improvising things to get them together, things that end up working. i have a strange sense of ...decor i guess. i have an old cast iron gumball machine filled with seashells and a giant 3 foot long light up ceramic fish. not to mention the countless bones i have. a few of my current projects involve birdhouse gourds, my grandfather is paying me to paint gourds, snake and birdhouse kind, like geese and snakes. i painted one with big liquidy doe eyes on it for him and now hes obsessed, ive got 5 or 6 birds and a few snakes to do. and ive got bones going too. they just have to tell me what they need painted on them.
and my biggest project:
my truck, a 500 dollar 1985 f150. red. ugly. gross.
soon to be spray painted by me, complete with zebra print interior, homemade emblem for the front made out of sculpey since mine was missing. its pink and black and looks like the ford emblem but..pink and black. ill be sure to post pictures of it when im done with it, cuz it will be the super-craft thing.
ive deconstructed shirts before, i have a collection of hard rock cafe shirts from salvation army. i dont remember how many of them there are, but i love them. my ex boyfriend/best friend calls them the "hard as rock" shirts.
i love sculpey too, im really into 3-d sculpture. but im also into painting. i just cant stand painting on canvas...its too square and uh..limited. i make skirts out of pants sometimes, but im kind of sewing-machine-dumb. which makes sense, i apparently only have enough brain to run the "i can fix a truck" part. cuz when it comes to that thing, i read the instructions and i still break it. oh well. i can manage really well with it, i just break it. hm. ive also made curtains out of bed sheets to match my bed set in my room. and i made stuffed animals that i got out of a catalog, order the kit, make the animal type things. i didnt screw those up! haha. and pillows. im fool proof at pillows. and im fairly ok at decorating shoes.
i guess thats enough rambling now.
