all right.. so i'm sort of new to knitting/crocheting. all i can do is scarves.. and i've got some questions.

i don't know all the abbreviations.. and i forgot where to look them up. the biggest problem is.. i don't know what each abbreviation is.. i don't know how to explain this but.. how do you know what pattern to use? like, i don't know each different pattern for each abbreviation.. haha, sorry.. not good at explaining. but yah, can you guys give me a link for the abbreviations and the patterns for each?

for example: p3, k5, m1, k5
i don't know what pattern to use for p3.. then theres k5, i don't know the different stitches for each.. get it? haha.. anyways, please help me out! thanks
