Painting a Bike

I would like to paint my bike from its current unattractive 1970's brown to a more appealing shade. Does anyone know of a good paint that would work? I'd like it to be shimmery, not flat, and pretty durable since i will be outside with it, biking all about. Suggestions appricated!

(I got my new Ready Made yesterday and haven't had a chance to look at it yet, I saw there were bike prjects though! yay!)
