I made this necklace charm today, finally putting good use to the polymer clay I bought a few weeks ago...

*~*~*~

The body is made of polymer clay. I formed the rectangle, attached jump rings to the top and sides before baking the clay, and punched holes on the bottom using nails for the jump rings attaching the legs. A rubber stamp was used randomly to create some texture, and I used purple & silver acrylic paint to add color to the body.

Arms were made using two safety pins strung with beads. The legs are a hard cardstock covered with antique browned paper from an old catalog. The head is actually a glass gem with a picture of a face glued to the bottom (a la marble magnets), which was then soldered. You could definitely just use paper or clay for the head, though... no soldering required! Even more sturdy than just a paper head (and the perfect size) would be those silver-ringed garage sale price tags you can buy- I got some at Wal-Mart in the office/school supply section!

Here's my website with some other necklaces I've made, if you want to check them out! I hope to make more "people necklaces" in the future- and actually put them up on my website- when I discover ways to make them more durable.
