i'm sort of new to crafting.

i was just wondering if anybody had some suggestions on making a bag like the one in the following cut. i get basically everything except for what kind of fabric it's made out of and how to get the plushy kind of look from it. also -- would it be very hard to make a similar vest? thanks in advance for your help, this community always spurs a creative spirit in me.
