Paint stains on carpet

My sister-in-law has found herself with a dilemma and has asked me to call in the reinforcements:
She's gotten a streak of interior wall paint on her carpet. Not really a clump or a blob, but "a small inch-long line" as she describes it. Do you guys know how to get it out without ruining the carpet?
