Outdoor Art / Sacred Spaces
Aug. 15th, 2003 01:30 amInspired by a ( post ) I made in
alucinortela a little while back, I decided to revisit this project of mine and share it with everyone. Gardening and landscaping in itself is an artform of sorts, though different from the typical sewing or tin making projects we normally see here. Variety is good!
Now, there's been good times and bad times mixed in with all the hard work put into this little space outside my bedroom window. The bad things involved losing everything when I went to New York and no one could care for it properly. If anyone really wants details, they can be found ( here ).
However, with a hopeful heart and lots of support from very dear friends, the sacred space is thriving again. The people who have helped me the most in this process, are my good friend
blashamma, and a friend of my mother's, Patty. Patty helped by giving me a whole hoard of plants and other various materials. She had an abundance and wanted to share. She stuffed our car full of goodies!
blashamma has helped by bringing goodies and also helping me get the whole thing back in order, as well as offering companionship and good humor. Thank you.
One of the happy things that has happened since we got everything thriving once again, is that the pond has attracted a wild frog! I was so tickled to find the little frog that I went inside and got my camera, and decided to take pictures. I didn't have the heart to take pictures of the ruin I came home from NY to find, but I do have an image from an earlier ( post ). So it can be compared. It has all come a long way, and still has an even longer way to go. But it's getting there!
Now for the pictures!
The space by my room before, when I first started
The same area, with pond
A different angle, closer
The frog I found!
Real frog and spitter frog!
Lil albino catfish
Da crabby
My Shubunkin
These two swim together like that a lot
Fishes and plants!
More to come later! There's still lots of work to be done at that area, and two others. One of which is already started, and the other which is in planning. The later I am wanting to make into a sort of rock/cacti garden. Have to wait and see.
Overall though, things are looking up. And even though there have been some bumps in the road, I am very thankful overall for this experience.
