Denim and Bedsheet Tote Bag
Aug. 15th, 2003 10:30 amHi, this is my first post to craftgrrl. Thanks Kimmercake for the lj code. Let's see if I can get this lj cut thing right. Sorry ahead of time if I mess it up.
I made a tote out of a pair of jeans that were too big on me and I made the lining out of a sheet that my Mum had in her linen closet for so long that it developed those fade/yellow lines.

This is the outside of the tote bag.

This is the inside of the tote made out of the sheet.
I made the tote by sewing a bum shaped tote out of my old jeans and sewed the exact same shape out of the bedding. I sewed the pockets on the good sides and I put the bedding bag shape inside the denim bag, bad sides facing. I made a strap by sewing strips of both materials together into a tube shape and turning it inside out.I put the end pieces of the strap between the two layers of tote at the top and folded the top edge in between the layers and sewed along the top edge. My daughter gave me some iron ons that she had and I ironed them onto the handle. It's kinda silly looking but I've taken it to the beach and it serves its purpose well enough.
