thanks for all replying :) i thought i'd start a new thread about how i made it cause the old one is probably way down. these instructions are really basic. sorry but i had a load of help from my mum who knows more about these things than me :)

anyway i measured how long i wanted the skirt and also how big i wanted the waist band to be. then using pi and various maths skills i thought i had forgotton i cut a big circle out.

then i measured round my waist and made panels for the waistband which kind of dips down.

i folded the circle into quarters and folded the waistband panels to match to see what shape i would have to cut into the circle. then because i wanted to put a zip down the side i had to cut the circle in half.

then came all the pinning which takes a while when you have a whole circle to do! first i sewed up the side with no zip, then the one with the zip, attaching the waistband at the top. then i put the backing onto the waistband. then i sewed the hem around the bottom.

i got the material from ikea. it was 50p a metre! cause it was on special offer but fabric is really cheap there. i now have quite a lot of green left, and 2 metres of red with white dots :)
