Thanks to everyone who gave me suggestions for the heart shaped eyelets. I went out today and got a few things so that I could make some magic with them.

I started out with a pack of Making Memories heart-shaped eyelets.

I decided I wanted to use black suede for my cuff. Michaels has "suede trim," which worked out perfectly for my wrist size. First, I folded it in half to make it half as wide as it originally was and also to add some strength to it. Then, with a sewing machine I sewed a straight line on each side of the soon to be cuff. Oh, and I used white thread to add a nice contrast.

I bought a leather puncher like someone suggested to me. I forget who it was, and I'm so tired that I'm having a lot of trouble trying to make sentences, so you know who you are and I really, really, REALLY appreciate your suggestion. Anyway, I spaced out the hearts the way I wanted them on the cuff and proceeded to punch holes in the suede. I used a block of wood to soften the blow on our basement floor, and then used a regular hammer to push the puncher through. (My gosh, is this making sense to anyone? I really should not be allowed to type when I'm this sleepy)

Next, I put the hearts in the holes and used the eyelet setter. This also involved a hammer. Hammers are fun.

I trimmed some of the extra length off and added black Velcro as a closure. I bought all of my supplies at Michaels. Here's the finished product.

Sorry the pictures are so bad. I came home for the weekend and forgot to bring my digital camera so I'm using my old crappy one. The first picture of the cuff laid out was scanned and I placed black paper behind it so you could see the holes in the eyelets.

That's it for now. I'm really excited about how this turned out. I bought a polka dot stencil on clearance and I'm hoping to make a black and white polka dotted suede cuff with red hearts!!!

Now I must give my crafty brain a rest. Bed!
