So, it seems silly to be excited about this, but a friend of ours had a birthday and she wanted to go to this place called Ceramica where you paint pottery and then they fire it up and you take it home a couple of days later. I grabbed a sushi plate, and sat there, struggling with my inner demons that tell me I can't draw with my hands. I get so freaked out by permanent things like canvas, or paper, or... sushi plates. You know, where there's no "undo" button to backtrack once I fuck up. So I sit there, generally, afraid to make a move so I don't "waste" something if it doesn't come out perfect. I've been trying to relax about art lately - and stop trying to compare myself to all those fantastically talented people out there who aren't me, and just have fun with the skillset I do have. Anyway - the result of relaxing was the first piece of non-computer-based tangible art that I've ever done that I actually like.
