last year's valentine
Sep. 25th, 2003 08:59 pmi'm currently working on a few crafty things, but i thought i would make my introductory post with something i made last year for my husband's valentine's day present. a friend inspired me with a series of poems she had written while she and her boyfriend were apart - a total of 52 days, one day for each card in a deck of cards. i took that idea and used it to count down from christmas eve until february 13. i wrote a haiku for each card, each day.
another friend had gifted me with this beautiful handmade notebook which i was afraid to write in or even breathe on. and i had a few other ideas, none of which worked out in practice, so i decided to use the journal.

inside the front cover i pasted a small picture and a quote that said: #34 appreciate her genius. on the other side, i pasted a brief introduction that i had written for the project.

each page was smooth on one side and textured on the other, so i left the textured sides blank and pasted each haiku and its corresponding card on a smooth side.

at the back i pasted in a picture of me, and on the final two pages an ee cummings poem which i suppose i consider 'ours'.
it's not terribly crafty, i know, but i'm proud of it, and my husband likes it very much so i suppose those are the important things. if anyone is interested, there is also the site i made for it.
