craftgrrlHere are a few t-shirt reconstructions and the latest bag I finished.
My stencils came out pretty awesome, I have two pics and they're a decent size, so Im putting them behind this..
This started out as a plain tan t-shirt. I found a picture of two hill billys fist fighting each other on google. I turned the picture into stencil format and printed it out. I used acrylic paints on both t-shirts. I cut out the top center part of the t-shirt, and sewed some ribbon on the inner edges of the sleeves that were left. Finally, I knotted up the sides of the tee.
Again, just another plain t-shirt reconstructed. I went through the same procedure of finding a picture online and turning it into a stencil. For the letters, I just typed it up using whatever font I liked best. Sides of t-shirt slit, and then knotted like previous t-shirt. Top cut into a halter, straps cut off and black/white material sewed in place.
Although I think my stencil came out awesome, Im not pleased with the reconstruction at all. So Im attempting to do it all over.
When making my own stencils from images on the computer, I found it easiest and quickest to print out the image, cover both sides with packaging tape and cutting out with an xacto knife. Sounds kind of ghetto, but its ALOT easier and quicker than using cardboard (even thin cardboard), and file folders.
I also found that using spray paint looked neat, but when using detailed stencils, it came out alot better when I took my time and used acrylic paints.
Heres the bag, its pretty emo. I think I did a good job though. Solid black fabric lined with white/red striped fabric. Red felt broken heart on bottom. This bag was customized for a friend.
