Oct. 12th, 2003 10:34 amMy mom really likes nativity scenes (nativity=represents the day of Jesus's birth, with the baby in a manger and Mary and Joseph and shepherds and farm animals and such. Here is a traditional and very expensive example.) I would love to make her something like this for Christmas, but my problem is I have way to many options for media and style! Does anyone have a suggestion for what kind of material to use? I thought a hanging piece of cloth with buttons sewn on would look cute and folk-artsy, though I don't know how I'm going to make the buttons look like people and sheep. I've never tried painting, but I could always give the ol' canvas a try. I can't really think of any way to create a 3-d set with individual figurines as I don't have a kiln or know how to whittle, but maybe y'all have some ideas. Thanks!
