chocolate making

hey all , i need some advice on chocolate making
i have an idea in mind but i need to make the chocolate colored.
i tried to "dye" white chocolate with red food coloring [while i melted the white chocolate] but ended up with a very streaked effect.
has anyone tried making chocolate in different colors before?

i'm trying to make sushi shaped chocolate for valentine's day hence i need them in red, yellow and green.
if this fails , i'll try marzipan...any one who has done that before??

if i want to sew vinyl, do i need to use a heavy-duty, professional sewing machine, or do i just need to change the needle on the regular machine that i'm currently using?

hi - im new here. i thought i would introduce myself: ive been making all sorts of stuff for quite a few years now. Painting blocks for my daughter, making baby books for my relatives, cards, shadow boxes, strange pop art altars, along with soap & other body products. i just started quilting & bought my first sewing machine.

i was going to make oil cloth tote bags for christmas gifts, but didnt get around to it with the holidays & all. does anyone know where i might find a pattern or at least a good source of tote bag patterns? im looking for something akin to a paper shopping bag.

here's a pic of a scarf i embellished. it's pretty self-explanatory...felt, thread, rhinestones. oh yeah, it should be "nerveuse" instead of "nerveux" (?), but i didn't think of it at the time.
