Makin' Buttons

Anybody out there make their own buttons/pins? If so, what do you use? I'm really thinking about buying a machine, but I'm not sure what to get.

Also, any good DIY sites you could recommend?

I'm going to attempt to make lip balm... I ordered some supplies and I can't wait to start. Has anyone tried this, have a recipe to share or any helpful hints?
