Bag embellishment!

Woo. Bought a bag today, for a trip I'm going on tomorrow. It was in desperate need of coolifying (that was, in fact, why I bought it :D)

I'm not sure if this actually counts as craft.. I know some who would call it defacement. If the lovely mods agree, I apologise! Although, I am in half a mind to sew some hot pink tulle around the flap..

My friend and I saw the cutest little wicker bags at Target with cloth pictures of pinup girls with little added findings on them for clothes and such. We decided they were too expensive and too low quality, but we plan to make some ourselves. Does anyone have a good idea on where to find little wicker bags? Around 8 inches by 10 inches, and a couple inches wide, with handles of some sort, open at the top? We tried a bunch of the local craft stores and all they had were wicker type baskets and HUGE wicker beach bags. Our only other idea is maybe our local China town. I'd appreciate any help.
