I'm planning on making a "book safe" this week, and I wondered if anybody had made it before and has any tips?
For anyone who doesn't know what i'm referring to, its where you cut out a rectangle in the book , about a inch thick i suppose, then use that area to hide stuff in. My plan was to buy some velvet ribbon and use that to hold the pages together. But I have another question, what kind of glue doesn't make paper go wrinkly? Thanks so much!

Old Shirts

I have a lot of old short sleeved shirts from American eagle. I'm getting very tired of them, but I can't go out and buy a new wardrobe. Does anyone have any ideas what I can do to them? I was thinking about randomly cutting v's in the sleeves then pinning them together with safety pins, or cutting the bottom sides, or cut the shirts down the sides and sewing two different ones together...

*warning: cross posted to [livejournal.com profile] claymaker*

as i was wandering through michael's yesterday after work (i work right next door at bed bath and beyond) i stumbled across what looks to be an awesome book. i didn't feel like buying it, mostly because my mom works at a bookstore and she could probably order it and get the discount, but i'd figure i'd inform you about it now. it's called the polymer clay techniques book by Sue Heaser (ISBN 1-58180-008-8) the thing that most impressed me was a wood-graining technique. some of the projects in there are really hard to beleive that they are clay and not the real thing... when i do eventually get the book, i'll be sure to post some projects from it.

Can you think of anything to do with cheap plastic toy army men?
I'm thinking of glue-gunning a few to barettes... you know so the army dude will be aiming at whoever I'm talking to from my hair... but any other ideas? I only have a few and I wanna make accessories with them.

I'm looking for vegan art supplies. I know that almost all art supplies are not vegan, and I was wondering if any if you new any brands or anything that are? I'm going to be attending a lot of art classes and I would rather bring my own supplies then use there nonvegan things. I'm looking for just about everything, paints, pastels, crayons, glue, etc. I also do a lot of crafty stuff and as things run out, i like to replace them with cruelty free products. Thanks!

(sorry for the cross posts, but I'm having a real problem finding info on this topic)
