Hi ^^ I was told about this community by the very lovely [livejournal.com profile] manhattan

I've been working with beads for a little while, recently I decided to make a little amulet bag for my mom. It's nothing fancy ^^; really simple so far in a basic peyote stitch. =)

hey everyone, I guess I'm new here. I work at an arts camp and I make my own plates and stuff on the wheel. I also love painting furniture.. I just got this ugly old coffee table and I'm looking for new ideas for a funky pattern... or something completely new I can turn it in to. Any takers?

I'm on this 'make your own clothes' kick. I really love long, flowy skirts but don't want to pay prices for really neat unique ones. So, I decided to try my own. Basically, I peruse the WalMart sale section for fabric (usually a $1 a yard; sometimes $2 for really good fabrics). I've been collecting remnants over time to make a quilt and noticed the sale prices. Anyway, here are a few things I've made. Skirts are the easiest. I'm overweight so I use about a yard and a half for each skirt though I usually buy around 3 yards (it's only $3 so what the heck). I would think that a thinner person would only need a yard, if even that. The first skirt is using elastic which I thought it would be complicated but turned out amazingly easy. The second skirt using a draw-string method which is OK but I think I would have prefered the elastic. Probably because I made the waste too large. The third is pants. Again, I used elastic but made the waste to big so it bunches a bit. I might fix it later. I made the mistake of making it a skirt first, then cutting & sewing it into pants. Fortunately, I have another yard & a half so I might make a skirt, too. I absolutely LOVE the material! Both skirts are ankle length.
