t-shirt altering

craftgrrlhi, i don't like wearing big bulky t-shirts but i like some of the ones i have. so i was thinking i could alter them by cutting off the sleeves and stuff like that. does anyone have tips on altering t-shirts so i don't totally mess mine up? thanx!!
