Robe Completion
Aug. 12th, 2002 02:07 amA friend/client asked me to make this for him. It was the first prototype of what I will soon be making through my company as special order designs (hopefully).
What he asked me to make was a robe with gold trim. This is what he got.
( Click here to see it completed... )
In case you were wondering, the outside of the robe is made of royal blue velvet while the inside is made of black suede-like velvet. The trim is a gold fabric ribbon we had found while getting materials. It is extremely heavy due to the suede-like velvet on the inside. It's thick enough to not need to wear anything underneath (literally!)
Under normal circumstances, this would have been an extremely easy project, but considering the tweaks I made that did not follow the original instructions given with the pattern (like the additional lining and the way I sewed the gold trim on), the materials I used, the fact I am incredibly meticulous, and the fact that during the first half of work on this, my right hand was bandaged up, I think it turned out rather well. :D
