I've been thinking of starting a business selling handmade jewelry. I've got a meeting with my career counselor in a week and I'll get the chance to pitch this idea to her, but I need some data to back it up.

I'd like to know if anyone here sells handmade jewelry/crafts and makes enough to live on, how much time it takes up each week and anything else you feel might be helpful.

I'm trying to go into this with my eyes open and not full of unrealistic expectations.

Thanks! If you don't feel comfortable posting the info, send me an e-mail at burntflowers@yahoo.com.

can anyone remind me the name of that new crafty magazine that came out recently? i think it only has 1-2 issues out so far. someone mentioned it in a post somewhere but now i can't remember the name. it's very modern & designed a bit like Jane or some indie rock music mag.

Noticed people posting about Holiday gifts...last year I made some fun warm hats....
They're kitty hats, mice, and rabbits...I personally love the kitties. =) You can make pigs too, I never have, but I know how.
I bought some ski hats (ski caps?) at a Wal Mart, around Winter, cause they always have them around then. =D
Cut a little bit of the bottom of it off, cause they were really long, and I used that material to make the ears later...
Well...From the the material I cut off, I cut the sizes for the ears....if it was cat ears, rabbit, mouse, whatever, cut out two of them, the same size, hot glued them to the top of the hat...
Then I glued two medium sized google eyes, =D you can add eyelashes too with black fabric paint...be careful. ^.^
Then I added the features like, nose, mouth, whiskers, the pink inside of the ears (it makes the ears more stiff when it drys, so they ears stand upright better) and...basically just drew it the way I wanted...yeah.
Also, the part of the hat you fold at the bottom, I made it like a collar, you can glue rhinestones, buttons, beads, sequins, fabric paint designs, etc.
These turned out really cute. :)

Have fun!!! :) If anyone figures how to make any new kind of critters with this hat method let me know!

I hope what I typed is understandable...e.e I'm bad at explaing things...x.x

=D
