Anne cloth?

Ok since I have been too weak and lazy to do much of my chainmail lately (thank you weak body and stupid meds), I have decided to take on a second hobby for these lazy, sore, blah kind of days. My mom is gonna teach me how to cross stitch, so with me being unable to work and mom loving sun faces, I went ahead and assumed this hobby will work out and ordered a pamphlet of celestial designs that is designed to be used on pillows and afghans mainly - so I could make her a b-day present. The booklet says that it is for use on Anne cloth. Has anyone used this? I've looked for it online and best I can tell it is some cloth usually already made into an afghan with a special weave so that you can stitch on it, is that a fair assessment of what it is? Is there any reason why these designs wouldn't work as normal cross stitch pattern? I am guessing I could use them on any fabric but eh I just am clueless so far.

Thanks!

I call it the "Petty Revenge" purse, because I made it by tearing up my former best friend's favorite shirt. Why former, you ask? Well, she moved in almost 2 years ago for 2-3 weeks, stayed almost 2 months, then ran off and called me from the hospital, then called me a few months later to let me know she was about 5 states away. She left all of her stuff and her 2 cats (I already had 5 of my own at the time). And one of the cats was pregnant (and then we were 8). In that time she's called all of once, and has never asked about her stuff or her cats - one cat she's had since she was a kitten and he's now 11.

But I digress. ;)

Anyway, so that's why this is the Petty Revenge purse (if I ever sell it somewhere, I probably won't tell the story behind it. *giggle* Unless they seem cool or something).

I wanted the handles to be more than just strips of fabric, but I didn't want to use wood or anything like that, so I just made tubes of fabric and stuffed them well with polyfill to make nice, solid handles. I like it a lot. :)

Question:

Does ANYONE know of a good way to turn tubes of fabric inside out? I originally made the tubes inside out but I could NOT get them to turn the right way. I constantly have this problem. I eventually made the handles by folding the raw edges in and then sewing it closed, but I would have LIKED to have hidden the stitching. Any pointers? Anyone ever used one of those doohickys made just for turning little tubes? Worth the $$ and how much are they?

Anyway, there's yet another purse (my husband's starting to get worried, thinking my crafting is becoming an obsession, hahaha - yeah, artist boy who sits at his desk for 5 hours at a time drawing or painting...). Maybe one day I'll take my stuff to a craft fair and see if people are interested. *grin*

Mwhahaha. I made something the other day. I saw these in a bridal magazine, and my boy's little sis is going to prom in a couple of weeks, and is gonna look super cool with those in her hair! Anyone have good ideas for variations?

Okay, this purse is so cute actually... the thing in the middle that you can't really see, is a zipper held on by safety pins. its just so damn cute! =)
I made it for my wonderful friend LILY!

I am trying to make a change purse for my sister, and I need some help.

We saw a bunch of cute little beaded Chinese cluch purses type things at the mall, but they sell for a pretty penny, so I thought I'd make her one instead.

1. She wants a strawberry. Does anyone have a strawberry pattern or know where I can get a free one online? It's just that my strawberry drawings keep turning out looking like tomatos.

2. After I make the purse, I'm going to sew sequins all over it, in red and the top in green. How does one sew sequins? I've never done this before.

Any other advice would be great!

I am in the process of decorating my room. I am an artist and craft girl and I would like to showcase that in my room. I have come up with some ideas to show off my art but I was wondering if anyone had better ideas that I could do with glitter? Home Decor with Glitter..

Any Ideas? Like the Walls, etc.

New stuff!

Hey!
I just spent the afternoon hunting around Edinburgh's charity shops, and have come home with...

4 old 12" vinyl albums
a *huge* piece of material (black with gorgeous yellow and turquoise embroidery all over it)
a box full of Sanrio plastic stickers and various packets of Chococat notelets (for £1 only!)

I'd like to make a nice knee length skirt from the material, and I was wondering if you know where there are some patterns for the ladies with larger bums/hips/thighs???

a quick crafty question that hopefully someone can help me with.

i have a project i'm working on and i'm using a pleather fabric. it needs to be fairly stiff and right now it's kind of flimsy. is there anything i can do to make it stiff? i tried sewing two pieces together but my machine hated that apparently and started being totally screwed up. everything is fixed now, but i don't want to have to go through that again.

what is worse is that on side will be pleather and the inside will be a faux fur. neither are very strong and i have no idea on what to do to make them more rigid.

if i can make this work, i promise to post pictures when it's done. :D

I was visiting my parents a few weeks ago and ended up going through some boxes of my old art projects and schoolwork and such. I found this odd little piece that I made when I was three or four years old. It made me laugh, so I vowed to bring it home with me and do something with it. I ended up putting a self-adhesive magnetic strip on the back of it and turning it into a large magnet.

So now I have *this* on my refrigerator. )

It kind of reminds me of Terence and Philip from South Park, which is unfortunate since I'm not really a fan of that show. I still like it though, and it's nice to have a little piece of my past around to look at (and it's always handy to have another magnet, too).

I saw these wondrous items at naughty secretary (click me) - how cool?! Only problem is that I have no spare cash, but the need for one of these babies is burning a hole in my... well, somewhere. So, do any of you cool chicas have any idea how I would go about making one?
