i found this purse at Virgin Threads. It's a little clutch purse made out of an old book. I was wondering if you guys had any ideas on how to do it?
i was thinking: find a book and gut it. then somehow seal the cover so it wont be as prone to damage. should i just make the lining on the inside out of some fabric? i guess that would be the best way.

anyway, just an idea that hadnt been posted yet: purses out of books.

Hey everyone. I need your crafty expertise.

I'm moving on Thursday and alot of the stuff that we are using for the first few months until we can buy our own, are hand-me-downs. We have 3 horrbily atrocius lamps. 2 light blue ones, with brass metalwork and pleated *uck* shades and 1 pink one that is not really pink. It's like pink that is supposed to look like marble or something- toally ugly.

So what can I do that is cheap and easy to make them beautiful? I am toying with the idea of doing mosiac on them, but I don't knwo how much that will cost me (ie: would it be cheaper to just trash them and buy new ones) . . . Also, defintely need to do SOMETHING with the shades and ANYHTING- Any ideas would be appriciated.

Another problem is that we don't at the moment have any real coffee or end tables- ie: anyhting ot put the lamps ON! Hehe. So I want to go to the lumberyard and make some simple small end tables for our furniture. (The living room is the only room that does not have an ceiling light fixture, so this is kind of an immediate problem.) So does anyone have any idea or reference sites for instructions where I can get info on how ot make some nice looking not to expensive projects?

Ok, and I *think* this is the last thing. We have 2 couches (used of course) coming or way. they are NOT in thebest of shape. The edges look as though they may have been stratched by a cat a little. Anyway, I want to re-upholster them or make a slip cover or something! They are also a blue-ish color and not in a good way. Now, at the moment I do not have a sewing machine (i will soon though in a few weeks), so I won't be able to work on this right away, but I just need to know any suggestions.

Thanks!

Lindsey

OK gals....

I have been making hand crafted dolls for awile now, not seriously...but just for my own satisfaction. I recently started to get alot better at it, and I am seriously thingking about selling them. I started working on a website, but I have a problem.

I have no idea what to charge for them. I hand dye them, and the outfits and everything are 100% my creation, I love them, and everyone thinks they're super cute...but I am so self conscious about what to charge. It jsut feels weird.

Anyone have any ideas?
