OOooh I just had an idea.
Today I bought velamints (which come in a tin like altoids) and I was just thinking, remember how everyone was coming up with ideas for tins a while back ie travel candle holders, shrines, etc etc?
What about a travel sewing needle holder?
Like say you were going on a long car trip or something and wanted to do some needlework in the car or even if you were just going away and wanted to have some needles with you in just in case. You could glue some fabric into the tin, or just stick in some sticky putty and put the needles in that and voila!

I had been working on this for a while, and now it's finally done! It's my first crochet project. (Well, not really. When I was younger I made a door-knob holder. It was useless)

I was working on it all during school and now I have like, five hats to make. My sister is mad.

i may be in way over my head, but does anyone know how easy/ possible it is to make a mannequin form to display clothing?

i was thinking maybe by somehow putting together and manipulating wire hangers or something. i cant find anything on the subject. has anyone done this before? if so, how?

thank you :)

I've been busy making jewelry... I started with macrame and beads but am now branching out to wire as well. Anyways, here are some pictures...

I've got a dozen or so empty lipstick tubes of varying shapes and colours....is there anything crafty that can be done with these? I hate throwing stuff away...if there's a neat project out there or anyone who wants them, i'd love to hear about it.

I think it was here not too long ago that someone was asking about tea/coffee dye. I have a couple of examples of stuff I did using coffee.

These pieces were painted using paper, instant coffee, and very little else...just thought maybe they'd still be of interest:

I did my first mod-podge piece, and I think it came out well after I found some good sealer for it. It now holds my bills and misc. paper stuff. The pics are sort of dark, but they get the idea across I think. It's leaf green with pages of the divine comedy and glitter.

I finished the pin cushion I started yesterday. Under the LJ-cut are the finished pictures (which really don't do it justice since they were taken with a webcam) and instructions on how to make one so that it can be added to the FAQs for someone looking for a quick, easy, n' cheap Mom-gift.

Hey guys! I'm new.
I'm decent at sewing, but I yearn to get better so I can start making my own shirts and stuff (clothes nowadays are so expensive!).

Do you guys have any tips? And any books that you guys recommend? And where can I buy cool fabric for cheap? (sorry if these questions are already in the memories. I can't find my questions in them) Thanks a lot!

oh, is the handheld (easy stitch I think it's called) sewing machine recommended?

Ok, so I had an idea of taking a picture frame and spray painting chalkboard paint onto it and giving it as a gift. I bought this picture frame-

Do I need to sand it before I paint it? The surface feels really smooth and it says its solid wood.
