hello fellow crafters! i'm kinda new. been reading for a bit, but haven't posted yet. :D

thought i'd share a few ideas that i've had as of late.

first of all.. i had the idea to make a rear-view mirror ornament out of a CD (i'm sure you've seen this before). but instead of just putting a plan old cd there.. i used nailpolish to paint over it and gave it a tie-dye effect. it dries quick and looks pretty good. then, i used a permanent marker to write my name. then, i tied it with a leather string and made a loop to fit around the mirror. it gives cool reflections from the sun and spices up my truck a bit.

next, i was browsing through the memories section, and came across this post, and figured i'd give my input on what i'd do with the case (since mine will soon be empty and i'll be recycling it for something as well). anyhow, you could put your tape in it (perfect fit for duct tape and masking tape, or any other rolls about the size of a cd).

well, that's about it for now. :)

Mod Podge

When you all are talking about mod podge do you mean the product or are you talking about the various techniques using a sealer-type product?

I'm asking because I really don't like Mod Podge brand product. It seems to soak in too much and not only change the quality of paper (bubbles, stretching, wrinkles, roughening) but also the color (dark or smears). I find that acrylic products are better suited to the finished product I desire.

I just got a sweatshirt and T shirt recently and the design on the front of both are peeling. Is there a way to stop the peeling or fix it?

Hi! I was sent here by [livejournal.com profile] quietexpression and so far it looks like a pretty nice community!

I have a million and one things I want to learn how to do but candle making is going to be one of my first. My question is:

Does it matter if I use fragrance oils or essential oils when making candles at home? I know of a store that sells essential oils for a certain amount per ounce but most of their fragrance oils are $2.50 an ounce. What happens if I use fragrance? Will the scent come through still? Or will I waste my time?

first post here. i've been following this journal for awhile, so i thought i'd finally post something. i'm normally really crafty and creative when it comes to ideas, but i'm just stumped when it comes to this one.

i have about 4 of those plastic things you get out of the 50 cent machines at the grocery store. i saved them in hopes i could use them for something.. they look like a craft project in disguise. so i'm asking all you crafting goddesses out there.. WHAT CAN I DO WITH THESE THINGS?!

i hope someone can help me.

Hello, first post here.

Heres a pic of a computer keyboard button bracelet I made the other day. F*ck Bracelet

I used an old cheapo metal bracelet and unlinked the links with pliars. Then I made holes in the keyboard buttons I wanted to use and linked them onto the metal links. I then closed up all the links with the pliars and added coiled computer wire for the finishing touch. voila!

so in the computer room I'm turning into a studio we have some cheap folding closet door like thing...It's HIDEOUS, plastic (fake wood too!) and doesn't accept paint...
I might as well remove the bloody thing, but then I'll have an open, exposed closet..
this does make access easier, but still, any ideas?
beaded curtain (I fear too much dust attraction?)
material curtain?
buy a new door ? (expensive, and would need to cut it to fit)

Usually i'm good at this stuff, but it's just too damned ugly

Hi guys!
i need some help! i saw a pattern online at the Simplicity Patterns website but to my dismay, it is not available in australia [where i unfortauntely am] till Sept. I know it is for sale in USA already because some sites are selling it but they are charging over USD$20 including postage for it. I was wonderin if anyone can point me towards a good place [read:cheap] to buy from online? thanks.

has anyone ever made their own magnetic poetry type thing?

how did you do it?

what did you use for the magnets and how did you make the words?

where did you get your supplies?

thanks so much!
suggestions from people who haven't done this but might have an idea would also be cool too, thanks!

I am making a pinata for my kids' birthday party and thought I'd share the outline for making it. It's a bull and I'm using the techniques I've learned plus a few things I learned on my own. Sometimes when I write out instructions I don't do it as clearly as needed because I've done it so much I forget the little details unless I'm doing it. So if it seems like it's not complete just ask me questions.

Here's the idea on a webpage I just cobbled up.

Ok, so I want to divide up my room with some curtains made out of sheets, and I figured the easiest way to attach them to hooks was by putting grommets on the top of them. I searched online, and I found some pretty pricey grommet tools. What's a typical price for one of these suckers, and is there a better way to attach fabric to hooks?

help!!!
