I scoured the FAQ section, sorry if there are repeats!

1. Is there any danger in using old cans as candleholders? My roommate and I were mildly concerned that maybe the glue or something they use to seal the edges of cans might be flammable. anyone know?

2. I remember in the early 90s there being a big huge craft fair in Phoenix, Arizona. I can't seem to find any information about it online, and I was wondering if it (or something like it) still happens yearly?

Thanks!

As you know, [livejournal.com profile] kimmercake runs a great community here. She is pretty busy with school right now, so I am going to be doing a bit of co-moderating for [livejournal.com profile] craftgrrl. This means you can contact me if there is a problem as well as [livejournal.com profile] kimmercake, now. Mostly I will be deleting off-topic posts, and looking into the memories a bit. I will try to be as unobstrusive as our illustrious leader is, so don't worry.

Thanks

a while ago i bought a book called "the usborne guide to knitting from start to finish" and its faboulous like whoa [its from the 80s, and has bright colours and all that jazz, PLUS the patterns are super super easy.]

and i know like every other day people ask for leg warmers...and the ones in this book were much much easier for me to do than the knitty ones [and they have horrible ribbed tops and bottoms]

awesome legwarmer pattern )

i'll post pictures of mine when i get batteries for my digital camera. but they're awesome. i used dollarstore arcrylic yarn and they turned out okay.
my next project is a hot pink and black striped tube skirt [also via a pattern from this book, which if anyone wants i'll post]

rock on.

I found this website and figured the prices on misc stuff was so low that maybe they can be used for crafts! Also, I'm a dollar store/thrift store feind. I could be a millionaire and you would find me at Walmart.

OK, so I've been through the FAQ stencil section, paint section and fabric section...
But I'm wondering about sealing fabric paint on t-shirts and such.
I remember reading about ironing it or something...
Could anyone help me out with this?
I'd like my stencils to be smoother and cleaner looking, especially on my hoodie.
Thanks so much?

Hi crafty divas

I'm attempting to redecorate my room and one of my projects is my bedspread. I would like to paint designs on it. I'm wondering if I MUST use fabric paint. I don't wash the thing -- only spot-clean it....so what would the benefit of fabric paint be?

I'm wondering if I can just use acrylics on it, so I can paint the walls with them too...like those paints found in the craft stores near the unfinished wood products. Will those stick to the fabric?

Here is another site for craft stuff.

I'm bored at work today but thought this might be another cool site to buy in bulk some crafty things...

Okay, I just got this idea for what I'm going to do with my tissue box when it's empty and I'm so excited about it, so I thought I'd share. I have one of those cube-type Kleenex tissue boxes and it has a different colored gerber daisy and background on each side. I love gerbers. First I thought I would just cut out the top and keep it as a box to put stuff in. But I tried to think of something more interesting. I'm going to unfold the box and cut each side in half horizontally and vertically. So each gerber picture will be separated into four squares. Then on a nice piece of paper I will arrange it to make a picture of one whole gerber, each corner being from one of the different sides. I'll have to even it out and all, and I'm going to leave a small space between each piece. I was able to get a decent black frame for 89 cents today at Goodwill, yay for Goodwill! So then I can frame it, and have something nice to hang in my apartment:) Hopefully it'll turn out well!! And I have to use up all the tissues, haha....anyone need to blow their nose?

I have a belt just like that, but does anyone know where to get the lettering that would stay on that kind of belt material? thanks =)

When making crocheted pieces with patches (quilts, scarves, etc) what's the most reliable way to join two patches together? Is there an online tutorial that you could send me to (I work better with written instructions and pictures are a plus).

Thanks!

hey crafty ladies and gents, i need some help with a pattern. actually, i need a pattern for a purse. i've never made one, but today at a thrift store i found some great stuff i want to try with.

i got:
-a pair of pink and glittery pants (made of 75% polyvinylcloride and 25% polyurethane) [for the purse]
-a pink polkadot on pink polyester/cotton chunk of fabric [for the lining]

i have never made a purse, i'm willing to start with something like a coin purse or clutch, but the fun part is that i don't own a sewing machine (yet). are there any certain things i ought to know about working with fabrics like these?

how do i intensify the colours of things printed on newsprint, ie comics? is it possible? i'm making marble magnets out of comics, but they're pretty dull.

I have plain black belt that I want to add some ribbon to.
What can I use to attach the ribbon to the belt?
Fabric glue or what?
The belt is like cotton. I think it's called cotton webbing or something like that.
Thanks in advance!

is the mending fabric necessary? because i know with photocopies, you can transfer the image with chemicals onto anything and even transfer it onto packing tape:
