Has anyone attempted to make a purse out of neckties? I've seen it done before...but I was wondering if there was a tutorial or pattern...or maybe some tips someone could give me? I'm really clueless. If this is too irrelevant...feel free to delete it. I was just curious. And just so it's not a text only post...

okay I am making a daytimer and getting it printed through cafepress.com because I can't find exactly what I want in the stores (and hand making each page is out of the question as this is to be functional, not artsy/crafty). But I want it to have a bit of flavour and so I wanted to add neat borders and little drawings to the pages. This is just for my own personal use, not to sell to anyone so I'm not concerned so much about copyrights of pictures but I don't know where to find good borders/pictures. I like gothic, anime, cyber goth, astronomy, and funky designs...not so into the typical girly flower stuff. Anyone have any suggestions?

thanks!
-Abbey =)

p.s. I'll share my pdf (without the pictures) for anyone that wants to make their own so that you can go and find your own pictures to add to it to make it customized...through cafe press it's basically the same price as buying a daytimer in the store. :o)

p.p.s I just found deviantart and the tattoo section is providing some good ideas but if you have any other ideas let me know!

Hi Everyone,
I'm in a bit of a situation, and don't have much time to go out looking for something, so I was wondering if any of you would know where I would be able to find

small glass bottles? Picture almost like a clear beer bottle, only very small?

Even if you can point me to somewhere online that MIGHT have it, I'd greatly appreciate it!

Thanks so much!

Hello. I am the idiot that posted a list of things not to do...since people seemed to appreciate that i will give you guys another one.

Power washers are dangerous dangerous beasts. Me and my friend were hired to paint a shed (fairly crafty...well not really but oh well) and i was shovelling the shit of the porch of the shed. (and i mean literally. She had a rabbit but never cleaned the shit)
So anyways she hit me with the stream of water and it literally flung the skin right of that one spot(thank god it was small) and she was about a foot away so it was highly painful. So now its all bloody and not healing well and ect.

So the moral of the story is if you need to use a powerwasher for any situation, use VERY CAREFULLY.

Okay - I'm pretty sure I looked everywhere in memories but I need to ask a simple question and then this post can be deleted.

I've seen tons of people with felt stuff lately, felt dolls, felt purses, etc. I'm trying to make a shirt with felt letters and want to know a couple of things:

1) What do you cut felt with to make it really straight? Can you use just plain scissors? I'm afraid to go ahead with it and ruin my $0.20 piece of felt, lol.
2) I don't have a sewing machine - is it easy to sew felt together and can you use standard thread or does it need to be thicker? I'm not very crafty so I don't know what thread to use really.

I also need some ideas - I bought this toggle set and the part that is on the fabric has two smiling stars and the toggle is red - what could I use these for aside from a purse? Any cute ideas?

Thanks guys :)

how do you box the corners to give more width to a bag? I am looking at this tutorial that says to box the corners and since this will be my first non slapdash (ok so maybe its still a tad slapdash) sewing project I have no clue how to do that and the lil drawing they have is so vague. help anyone?

I've been experimenting with making those sculpey logs that you slice pieces off. These are earring. I also made a ring out of one of the skulls, but I put it in the oven and fell asleep and it got these weird purple spots all over it.

Anyway, let me know what you think. Thanks!

problem! -> blargh!!

now, i’m no captain obvious, but it’s plain as day that you lovely ladies are all amazingly talented and creative babes. so if you would be ever so kind to help me out in this predicament, I would be forever grateful!

guys… I really want a new wallet!

if you have any ideas for one, or know where I can find a tutorial, or have some & are selling them.. do tell! the ones at the stores are just so.. ::yawn:: you get the point. i preferably am looking for one big enough to hold bills and such. i’ve had a duct tape one before and as many memories she & i shared.. things just didn’t work out. ::shifty eyes::

so, in conclusion, i’m just a girl… looking for a wallet. to be mine, and mine alone.
merci beaucoup mon amis!

I scoured the memories/faqs but couldn't find anything on this...

I can NOT get the hardened decoupage off my paintbrush! Every time I soak it, it softens and then I gently wash in mild dish soap.. but then it dries and hardens again.

I loved that paintbrush. Am I just screwed? How embarrassing.

What would be a good word or phrase to paint onto a clothes hamper? Other than "laundry", that is? I have this old hamper and I'd like to make it interesting, but I can't think of any neat wording that would be cool on it. I could just paint it pretty with flowers and things, but the lid is just crying out to have words painted on it!

im planning on making an attempt at a smallish purse using my new (yay!) sewing machine.
while looking for some simple patterns, i came across one that called for craft fuse. i was planning on using a layer of a heavier fabric in between layers of light weight fabric to help it hold its shape... but that can be really annoying, and maybe theres a better option?

so the question is really: whats the best way youve found to get a bag (of any size) to keep its shape?
thanks!

so i had these boxes from IKEA that a friend gave to me. i decided to keep my makeup and stuff in them- lipstick in the small one, hair stuff in the middle one, and makeup in the big one. then i decided i wanted to decoupage. i glued some felt to the bottom of the boxes to keep them from sticking to one another. this is my first experiment with decoupage-hope you like it!

i'm sorry for the size of the pics! this is also my first time posting pictures!!

Help help help!

Whenever my boyfriend goes on a trip I write him a little letter or put some cute little thing in a fun envelope for him for every day that he's gone. It's sort of like a mini-advent calendar to count down the days until he comes back. He's leaving Monday morning, and I basically only have a few hours tonight to put everything together. I really need help with ideas!

He went on three trips within the span of a month a little while back, and I am at a complete loss for any fun ideas. I've written him three letters, but I need more fun ideas! He'll be gone for a week, and any ideas would be very appreciated.

Thank you!

Hey everyone!

Sorry for the text only post, but I have a few questions :)

I've got a bunch of soap fragrances/colorants/molds that I bought from Michael's awhile ago. I was wondering if I could use any of them in tarts (little wax melts you melt with a tealight burner), or bathbombs? I'm assuming I could use them in bathbombs since both those will have skin contact like soaps, but I'm not sure on the tarts. It doesn't say "Do not use as a candle" or anything like that, but I'm not sure!

Thanks :D

I've been a member for a little while and thought it was time to let everyone experience the embarrassing silence I seem to cause when I show people my stuff...

I made a doll about two months about from felt...so, go look and tell me what you think, if you'd like to...

Okay, ladies and germs... I present to you a CRAFT CHALLENGE. Aidez-moi, s'il vous plait!

I want to make a lampshade. Preferably tonight. I've got a hideous plastic base about 5" in diameter at the base and about 12" high with the bulb. I've got some very pretty handmade paper with leaves and grass in it. My basic idea is to make some kind of cylindrical or rectangular shade that will just drop over the ugliness of the base and sit right on the table. Any extremely-on-the-cheap-preferably-something-I-can-find-in-my-closet, quick ideas about how I could make a neat-looking shade?

I've not been sewing long, and I have see so many beautiful itmes come through this group. I finally sat down and made a purse. I decided to make it reversible. Here are the results.
